Open Source Design project is to provide to users around the world the possibility to download planes like a table, chair, stool … Then they will be able to manufacture themselves their furniture, using fab-labs or their own tools.

Indeed, the fab-labs are the future. Sharing and using an expensive equipment that an individual cannot acquire alone is an exciting concept and I wanted to promote it may way.

I didn’t want to design just a simple plywood chair or table, like many other already did. Personally, I wanted to bring something new, coming from a resultant of a material related with a technic. I also wanted to make a reference to Enzo Mari who was one of the first designers doing open source designs. So I decided to design furniture based on plywood flexibility once cut with CNC machines.

It becomes an innovative furniture, coming from a single panel of wood, limiting falls and based on a principle of wood tension. We get furniture easy to produce and easy to assemble.

Starting from a furniture design, I arrived on a design service: downloading furniture plans.

The ambition is that people can edit files according to their needs, and they will be able ‘upload’ their new file on the server after, in order to develop a range of participatory furniture collection.
